IRBV students help clean up parkland on Mont-Royal

IRBV students were among the volunteers assisting in the annual “Corvée du Mont-Royal” clean-up of park lands, organized by Les amis de la montagne on May 6. Project organizer Alice Roy-Bolduc, team leaders Aymeric Yanitch and Edeline Gagnon and about 30 other students conducted follow-up of trees and shrubs planted on Mont-Royal over the past several years. The success of these plantations will be evaluated based on measurements of plant growth and a survey of young plant survival. During the clean-up, students Julie Faucher Delisle and Alessandro Dieni staffed an information booth on the IRBV and biological pest control. For the past 21 years, volunteers have participated in the annual clean-up (over 600 this year), assisting in the conservation of Mont-Royal by collecting garbage, planting trees, conducting plantation follow-up and destroying invasive exotic plants.
