The IRBV has proudly awarded the first Marie-Victorin Grant to Youssef Chebli, Ph.D. student under the supervision of Anja Geitmann. Youssef was chosen from among nine candidates. The $3,000 grant was presented to him in the presence of members of the IRBV and about 60 undergraduate students.
The grant, which perpetuates the legacy of founder Frère Marie-Victorin, has a great symbolic value for the Institute and has been created to promote excellence, develop quality and train future researchers as well as increase the scientific leadership and visibility of the IRBV. An official ceremony will take place with the Inauguration of the Centre For Biodiversity in early 2011 to which our alumni and contributors will be invited.
